Hashtag Publishing LLC ("the Company") respects the intellectual property of others and expects the members of the Readers' Room to do the same. This policy explains how to tell us about content in the Stan Taylor app or the web reader (together, the "App") that you believe infringes your copyright, what we do about it, and what a member can do if their content is removed. It follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512.
If you believe content in the Readers' Room infringes your copyright, use the form at my.stantaylor.com/legal/notice, which captures every element below and gives you a number to follow up with, or send a written notice to our designated agent containing:
• your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
• a description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
• the location of the material in the App: a link to the post or message, or a description precise enough for us to find it;
• a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
• a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner of the copyright or authorised to act for the owner;
• your physical or electronic signature.
Designated agent, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office under registration number DMCA-1079991: Stan Taylor, Hashtag Publishing LLC, 1021 E Lincolnway Suite #7583, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001, United States. Telephone +1 305 209 5919. Email hello@stantaylor.com with the subject line "Copyright notice". We read notices in English and Spanish. Please note that a notice that knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
We acknowledge every notice within one business day. We remove or disable access to the material identified in a complete notice promptly, in practice within 24 to 48 hours, tell the member who posted it, and give them a copy of the notice with your contact details removed except as the law requires. If a notice is missing an element, we tell you which one, and the clock runs from the corrected notice. You can check where a notice stands at any time at my.stantaylor.com/legal/status with its number and your email. We keep a record of every notice, counter-notice and action for at least three years. Content that appears to be pirated, including files or links to unauthorised copies of any book, is removed by our moderation whether or not a notice is received.
If your content was removed and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the designated agent containing: your name, address, telephone number, and email address; identification of the material and its location before removal; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the district in which you live (or, if you live outside the United States, the District of Wyoming) and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the notice; and your physical or electronic signature. We forward counter-notices to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us within ten business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material within ten to fourteen business days.
Every valid notice counts as a strike against the member who posted the material. A member whose content is the subject of two valid notices loses the ability to post; a third valid notice closes the Readers' Room to that account for good. We may close an account after a single notice where the infringement is flagrant, such as sharing a pirated copy of a book. A counter-notice that ends in restoration removes the strike.
Trademark and other intellectual-property complaints, and complaints from outside the United States, use the same form and the same address; choose "Trademark complaint" or "Illegal content notice". Anyone, member or not, may tell us about content they believe is illegal under any law, with the reasons and the location; this is also our notice-and-action mechanism under Article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act. Both the person who notifies us and the member who posted the content receive a statement of reasons for the decision, and both can contest it: the member through the appeal in the App, the notifier by replying to the decision with the notice number. Intimate images posted without consent have their own, faster process: the Intimate Image Removal Policy.
The books, audio, the App, and everything the Company publishes are protected by copyright and trademark law. Quoting the books inside the Readers' Room is permitted and welcome; extracting, copying, or sharing book text or audio outside the features the App provides is not. See the Terms of Use.
